iSTI Professional app for iPhone and iPad

iSTI Professional is an application for measuring the Speech Transmission Index using STIPA test signals. The Speech Transmission Index is an objective method that quantifies speech transmission quality: an accurate predictor of speech intelligibility. This method is used widely in room acoustics,design of public address systems and telecommunications. iSTI Professional complies with IEC-60268-12 3rd and 4th edition (2011).

Functionality

iSTI Professional features a STIPA signal generator and a Speech Transmission Index analyzer. It also includes calibration features (sound level and sample rate) and an internal database for storing measurement and calibration data. For advanced users, the app provides access to diagnostic internal data structure underlying the Speech Transmssion Index. Data can be exported via email.

Compatibility

iSTI Professional is compatible with iPod Touch 3rd and 4th generation, iPhone 3GS and 4, and iPad. You need an (internal or external) microphone in order to carry out measurements.

Compliance

Please note that for fully IEC-compliant measurements a flat response, omnidirectional measurement microphone is required. For professional applications, we recommend iPod Touch 3rd generation or iPhone 3GS, combined with an external measurement microphone (or SPL meter) connected through the dock connectors "line in." When using iSTI Professional with iPhone, we recommend running in Airplane mode.
